I want to use a MJ400 outside the aquarium. The outlet is 1/2" so I can just use a push connector, but the intake is 3/4." Can I glue (plumbing solvent) a 3/4" PVC fitting onto that with a threaded connector, then get a 90 degree elbow?

Will it seal up with the PVV cement?

I've seen calcium reactors setup with various pumps and use soft tubing for the inlet and these hose clamps ( https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/ratchet-clamp-for-tubing-1-6684828461f4e5bda1e2a33b5e0db6d3.html ). Is that an option for you?
I went to HD and couldn't find a PVC size that fit. I actually managed to heat up a 1/2" vinyl tube and fit it over. It's a very tight fit and on the suction side so I am not concerned with leaking.

And yes, I have a large selection of those clamps at home.
