hi beautiful reef...
can you go 10 x 8 x 24" ,save a lot of stretching ...;)
are you going glass or acrylic ?

If you are talking glass thickness the shallower the thinner :)

To an extent.

But for maintenance, I won't ever do another reef taller than 24" Just way to cumbersome. Fish only maybe.

That was the original plan, but then the display room was a bit cramped- so this allows good viewing space around the tank… I pushed up to 27” to get 24-25” water height. I was slightly worried about leaving too shallow at 24”?

I’ll probably go with 19mm (3/4”) Opti white glass Panels and a double base. 1 or 2 external weir boxes. 50mm (2”)drains and either 32 (1”) or 40 mm (1.25”) returns depending on whether I have 1 or 2 weir boxes.

plan was 24” water height, but I want to get a completely open top brace, so might use steel collars top and bottom and go 26 or 27“ . I’m not sure if a glass Euro brace will work with this size tank?

I’ll have maybe 30” tall stand and take the tank to armpit height, so can see into the top.

I don’t know if Steve Fullwood comes on here, but I’m very intrigued by this drain design he used.

anybody tried this before?

Euro brace will help with bowing. What happens when you get taller is the pressure at the bottom seam increases. May companies now use euro bracing inside the bottom. The first to do this was Glass Cages. It really does help with strength.

I had steel braces top and bottom in the last tank. I think that’s an even better option for strength?
