For the life of me I still don't know how to delete tanks with this app.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
Save it. Go into Edit and then select the template button to the right of the Schedule %. Select Save template and give it a name. Then you can play around with other templates, but ultimately go back to the one you saved. You would enter the sunrise/sunset and the choose it from the user templates.I don’t want to lose my current schedule so have been nervous to try. I have moon periods defined as well. I’m not clear how everything will get messed up if I have to put in sunrise/sunset to import. Does it require readjusting? It does seem very silly you can’t just export the settings and import the settings exactly as they are.
Currently one asks EcoTech nicely and they decide your fate. I was one of the chosen few. It works freaking great by the way, at least on iPhone. How does one get Mobius wifi beta?
I have a few complaints (all with regards to iOS - can’t speak to Android etc.):The app does have a feature to import other peoples schedules. Thats what export and import are for.
To export, you go to your schedule and hit the generic export button in the top right.
to import you head to templates and scroll right to USER. Applies to both pumps and lights.
As a programmer myself I’m just curious what you’d change UI wise. I think it’s decent and don’t know what I’d change personally . I find it easy to use and self explanatory where stuff is. I find the majority of issues are just lack of understanding. Just like the export/import thing. You say it’s not there but it is there. Not a dig, just saying.
The presets on the Home Screen are just pointless ways to show you it can do stuff to be fair. Hit edit and delete them to remove them. That’s what I did. But they are absolutely useful when you create custom ones/scenes, to completely shut down the pumps for example, or set off a nutrient transport mode temporarily.
Just curious - I create apps for a living and see no real issues with this one UI wise. I admit I’ve never had any issues with my devices themselves or others I’ve helped with so I can’t comment on that side of things. The app itself. Can’t say what I’d change if I could.
Color cycle? Do you mean it cycles through the various colors? If so that's quite hokey. That's something they do with the lights on kids' aquariums, not reef lighting. It's 2021 and this app can only control lights/pumps locally.
The presets don't seem to apply to the pump schedules the same way they do with the lights. They all offer constant mode with no variation.
Reefers are a collaborative bunch and love helping each other. This app doesn't have any type of feature to import other user's setting for lighting or pumps.
What's the point of the various icons on the landing page? Disco Mode, Thunderstorm, Live Demo, Color Cycle are all great ways to terrify your aquatic animals if you're into that.
The UI is so poorly designed and honestly I don't think it could be any more confusing, difficult to navigate, and frustrating to interact with.
100% agree with all points you make.I have a few complaints (all with regards to iOS - can’t speak to Android etc.):
With regards to the templates, it’s annoying that you need to enter the sunrise and sunset time every single time. One might want to capture all of the settings including sunrise/sunset (vs. needing to recall the time). Would be more ideal to have the ability to capture the lighting scenario fully.
With regards to the templates - if there is some way to delete user generated templates it is super non-obvious. I can’t seem to figure out how to remove locally saved templates.
There is a “Save” button - but any changes are instantly “saved” without any clear ability to revert, I’m not clear what “save” actually does - would be great to have an “undo” feature or ability to quickly revert any changes (other than regenerating from a template) since it’s super easy to accidentally shift one of the settings. Whenever, I’m poking around to check settings I find myself accidentally changing one thing or another.
Additionally, there is no way to zoom in on the timeline - it is really cumbersome to edit/move points on the timeline in close proximity. The pop up will overlap neighboring points if they are close together (say within 1.5 hrs).
Overall the program gets the job done, but toggling between settings could be made much easier (not having to rebuild from a template every time) and the interface for adjusting the time and adjusting the lighting settings could be much easier to work with.
I thought G5 radions only had Bluetooth hardware, not WiFi.I am also using the Mobius WiFi beta and it is fast and works great. Currently need G5 lighting for it to function.
Yes, exactly that.I thought G5 radions only had Bluetooth hardware, not WiFi.
Are you saying that there is way to connect Ecotech Radion G5 lights to the local WiFi and then control them via an app or do you need to get a separate box (bridge between WiFi and Bluetooth mobius)?
If you have two radions and want to run just one of them at a much lower intensity to acclimate a new coral, how would you go about doing that on Mobius?I don't know but if I had to worry about a light on one of my tanks when I stepped out or had to participate in life I would probably choose another hobby. I feel the same way about all automation. If you need to do it because of lack of time or laziness it's not for you. That's the whole point of keeping tanks to be hands on. The day I don't have 10 minutes to dose my 3 tanks is the day I find something else to waste money on. Mobius works as intended for me...
Create two seperate tanks and add one light to one and the other light to the other, you then get seperate control of each. Although id personally just put the whole tank on acclimation mode (corals are more than capable of dealing with less light for a short period of time from intense lighting - No different than when its shipped with no light) - Or better still id just have the coral in a more shaded area and slowly move it out without changing the light schedule but thats personal preference. If you have two radions and want to run just one of them at a much lower intensity to acclimate a new coral, how would you go about doing that on Mobius?
For what it’s worth - to delete saved templates that you have saved yourself is done the same way as it is to delete imported ones too.So is there a way to delete saved templates? Not the ones that were downloaded and imported, but user-created and saved templates?
Just had a second to have a look and a long press on your template pulls up the pop up to allow you to delete your templates - screen shot above as an example. With regards to the templates - if there is some way to delete user generated templates it is super non-obvious. I see. Unfortunately I can't even save any changes I make and get a "Bluetooth Connection Fail" error message when I try.Create two seperate tanks and add one light to one and the other light to the other, you then get seperate control of each. Yeah, mine keeps doing the same over and over. I frequently need to unplug my radions and restart the tablet to make them work. AI Primes don't give me such a hard time. That's why I'm very interested in this WiFi alternative. Hopefully it will make the app more responsive and prevent the frequent connection errors.I see.
