It looks like eco tech is going in there own direction, and will be trying to capture the Apex market very soon.
I have a feeing this is going to be good.
Competition breeds great products.
Using Bluetooth type communication, means no controller. This is big. Eliminates a ton of cables and wires. This is going to be a game changer from what I see so far.

They would need a central hub for this to work and that hub will essentially be a controller!
It’s one thing to independently setup a dosing pump or return pump all running there own commands but what happens when you want a dosing pump to stop dosing because a level sensor or temp gauge says something is wrong. You need a central brain to create the best course of. Action and an Iphone is not going to cut.

Lastly Bluetooth is one of the most unreliable communication protocols. Good luck with it when you have a cabinet full of BT devices.

From the same company that has constant disconnects with the reeflink, I don’t know.

It will be interesting. I love the concept if it works. Each component houses its own commands once you set them. Mobius provides the link to adjust the commands. This would include power heads changing speed when it sees a return pump change speed etc. the components communicate with each other. Great concept. We will see.
Reef link they have conceded is not reliable, and those issues are what brought this on I’m sure. It should be fun. I’m so invested in Apex, I won’t be making any changes other than the Radions and Vortechs on Mobius. Apex has a great product, and I’m very happy with all of it.
This hobby is exploding with great technology, and moves like this keep it growing.

Key words to take away from this "if it works". This tech is fine for programming a light or a pump to do certain things.

But what about automated operations while I'm away for 2 weeks? Is it going to be able to run my dumb pump in the garage to stir my saltwater mix? How about turning off my skimmer for the autofeeder to drop food?

There are so many specialty tasks people create is Ecotech going to let people create those tasks or are they going to bind thier hands around what they think we should do?

Lastly, where's the equipment like a powerbar, sensor readings and support for legacy Ecotech products? They have a LONG way to go and I don't see them getting there anytime fast.

I wonder what percentage of things somebody thought was going to be a game changer actually ends up being one? A small subset I'd imagine. ETM has been heading down the 'controller' path for a while (starting with Vectra not being apex compatible; Bluetooth enabled stuff in 2018) given their need to expand addressable markets. Competition is always a good thing, so we shall see whether mobius/etc. and ETM as ecosystem is a game changer or not.

Yes, they have a lot of development ahead of them. It should be fun to watch. I’m sure they will have no issue turning off a pump when they get have a feeder.
Are you mad at Em? So pessimistic. Relax

I can tell you that I have 4 G5 blues over my 120 and Mobius will only connect to 2 lights at a time, have to turn off the outlets via apex to update the other 2 lights. Even if I power them all on the same time it will randomly take the first 2 lights it decides to connect to. I'm a fan of Ecotech products, have 4 MP40's on the same 120 being controlled by Apex. I would take the Apex control back on my lights any day.

On that note, I have 2 mp40,s and use apex as well. I love my apex stuff I have virtually everything they offer accept the trident.
I’m not going there.
I have 2 XR30 blues ordered, and never owned a Radion.
The BRS video hooked me. I sold 2 AI 52’s.
Im really excited about the XR’s. Besides your connect issues, how do you like them?

I love the lights, I have one that clicked from the plastic heating and flexing but went away. Not a fan of Mobius yet

I'm running a total of 8 Gen4 Pro lights and even when mobius is turned on for legacy products I'm sticking with Reeflink/ESL … at least until all the 'bugs' get worked through.
