I was looking for a tank with a footprint of 24"x16" but I would have to have it made which would make it more than I would like to spend. Now if I where to take a 20g tall and flip it on its side, there you go. I was thinking about removing one of the 24x16" sides of a 20g tall and having a piece of glass cut that is 12x16" and siliconing it to what used to be the top. It won't have the plastic trim any more so I would euro brace the top.

Does anyone see any potential problems with my plan, would I have to brace the bottom somehow and if so how? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds weird but it could work I believe! LOL! What are your plans for it?

Over 18,000 members and no one has any advice? Thanks guys.

I wouldn't think a 20g tall would need a brace depending on the glass thickness. I've seen some guys weld a steel brace that fits securely on the outside of the tank...I thought that was pretty inventive. Have you tried looking on craigslist for free tanks? I'm sure someone is giving one away or selling one for cheap that you can throw a partition in.

I'm not sure of the thickness of the glass since I haven't picked up a tank yet. I can't find anything the is commonly manufactured with that footprint. I'd hate to not be able to use my stand.
