(last thread for the night. I've been doing a lot of thinking, but not so much writing. :D )

So, I'm looking to get a custom 48x18x18 tank, configured peninsula style. Overflow would be in the rear center, downwards to the sump.

Someone I know is trying to get rid of his 48x16x16 acryilic tank for a great price. BUT, this is not set up with the overflow as I like; instead it has an external overflow on the rear, in the form of two 1" bulkheads for return flow and dozens of "teeth" at the top leading to an external overflow box.

Is is worth me getting the used tank and then trying to mod it the way I want? (it may be more than a bit ugly in the end) Or should I just pass on this tank if I don't want it configured the way it comes?

Thanks!

Oh yes, really worth getting and modding to fit your needs, especially with the ease of acrylic

Thanks, I was told would generally be easy.

What’s the best way to plug the drilled bulkheads? A piece of clear acrylic covering it?

Yup. Glue another piece of acrylic on top of the hole.

Ok, got more pictures of it. The back (drilled) wall is black acrylic. Meaning that to get it the way I want, I would need to have a pro completely replace one of the walls with clear acrylic. I think that may be a bit much, but it’s about half the price of a new custom tank.

To go, or not to go? :D
