I have a mag9.5 pump that I like to use for water changes and I always seem to break the ceramic impeller shaft at least once a year when I clean the pump. Has anyone ever replaced the ceramic shaft with a titanium one? Would there be any drawbacks from this?

Thanks,

Dave

Never tried it, but since Titanium is a softer/ductile material I would think there would be a chance of it bending/becoming warped over time - may cause rotation problems.

I have heard of people replacing the ceramic shafts with carbon fiber from a hobby RC store. I was going to do this on my PSK2500 but realized they were not available local and I would have to order it so I got a psk1000 instead.

Thanks y'all for the replies! I didn't think about the carbon fiber. I may give both a shot and see which performs better.
