Hi guys!I have a by most standards a very primitive fish only live rock 46 gallon bow front setup. I just use sand some live rock one power head and a hob skimmer which name eludes me right now. It’s bright blue haha. I only have three small fish so not much bio load at all. There’s a few crabs and things like that too hiding about. My tank has loads and loads of coraline. So much so it inadvertently lead to this upgrade.
My wife asked if she could scrape the coraline off the front glass and I said sure so I showed her how to do it with a razor blade. Well I’m guessing she leaned on the center brace cuse it totally tore off the front part of the tank. The tanks silicone is in bad shape so I decided to just replace it. It’s sitting with a quick clamp across the top to keep the glass from blowing out. I bought a 75 gallon setup as it’ll fit the area perfectly. I’m already starting to stockpile the rodi water and I actually ordered a nice booster pump for the system.

I know the basics of the transition but I’m on the fence if I should reuse the sand or not. I’m sure it’s full of good bacteria and critters but will it skunk up my new tank? I also have tons of rock that I bleached out years ago sitting in a box in my cellar. I do want to add some of it to the new tank as well. Should I add a couple pieces to thr existing tank now or just wait till the transition? Any advise would be great thanks, mike
