Modifying sump

Hello everyone. I need to modify my sump configuration to add a refugium. Is there a way to keep the glass pieces inside the sump in place without having to use silicon?

we would have to see the design.

To me the best thing would be to add another container slightly higher then the existing sump. So the drain can go to that container and the container drain to the sump.

But that would require more space and stuff.
