Modular Marine Overflow Leaking....

Bingo! I’m shocked it’s not leaking more tbh.

Definitely worth considering a spacer of some kind to add support against the side of the tank once you get that gasket in their.

Alrighty then. Only took 2 hours, but drained the tank, removed the box completely, cleaned all the fittings, and put it all back together. Was a completely waste of time, as I was able to fix some of other minor issues that were bugging me. Lots of fun. Oh and I put the gaskets where they're supposed to go. But so far, so good. I put a paper towel behind the tank, underneath the box as a kind of water detector, cause its hard to see behind all the plumbing. Fingers crossed.

My overflow has been excellent! Not sure if this is correct, but I always grease up the gaskets (food grade clear synthetic grease) a little bit when installing to prevent them getting twisted or damaged when the nut is tightened.

Well, I'm in the same dilemma at the moment. I've drained the tank down 3 time with the last attempt including a bit a silicone. Each time I end up with a leak but seeing the diagram below it makes me wonder if I was missing something in my box.

Am I interpreting this correctly as there should be 3 gaskets per hole? I ask because mine only came with 2 gaskets per hole.

Edit: I forgot to mention that mine was also dead silent and very well made. I'm looking forward to using it after I eliminate the leak.

Had a MM overflow and it’s been spot on for me. They even notched the top so it fits flush up against the tank and fits around the top edge trim.

The gaskets need to be placed right. Here’s a diagram that might help.

As Simon mentioned earlier in the thread, the only essential gaskets are the ones that lay between the glass on the outside of the tank and against the outside of the exterior drain box. If you want to use 2 gaskets per hole, then use one on either side of the glass. 3 gaskets are unnecessary. Where are your gaskets positioned?

Always install gasket > glass> gasket in my experience, no matter the overflow maker.

I currently have the Esshops Eclipse and the instructions they provide are wrong. I could not stop the leak until I went gasket>glass> gasket

The gasket goes on the flange side... not the nut side. I don't think it can hurt to lube the gasket.

That video was almost the end of Eshopps. So many people did it that way and were having floods. And the bulkheads that come in that kit are garbage.

If you do find yourself with a small drip just tighten the nut less than a quarter turn. That usually takes care of it.

Were all set. Paper towel is dry, back of the tank looks great. I think I'm good to go. I am curious, if anyone still has the instructions, but I'm pretty certain the MM instructions have you put the second gasket under the nut, inside the external box. But either way, feels good to have this over with.

Wanted to say thank you for the modular marine recommendation Awhile back in the thread I posted. I finally pulled the trigger and got the extra modifications sort of like you did. It came in 2 days ago and finally got around to drilling the tank no going back now. I end up having internal box made to 4 ft and external box to 3 ft with the 2 extra 1 inch bulkheads out of external box for future use.due to the 4 ft internal we decided 3 of the 2 inch threw tank bulkheads was best to support the box and flow better. Anyways thanks
