Has anyone experience mold in their sump? I have what looks like mold growing above the water line and below the top edge in the fuge section of my sump. Fuge is not setup yet and normally has a lid as well.

Sponge of some sort.

Mold.

I get a little in the corners or upper walls of my sump from time to time. And also a little around the edges of the underside of my tank lid.

To be expected I suppose ... where there is lingering dampness there is eventually bound to be mold. If it bothers you, a small fan may help to remove lingering humid air and prevent it. Other than that, an occasional wipe down if it gets to annoying. I doubt it'll be harmful to the aquarium.

(FWIW, I don't know of any sponge that survives when exposed to air.)

Oh, I assumed water was drained below the growth, maybe not.

Probably no worse than the pink mold in every ice vending machine :)
I read that can get you sick too, and that it should not be left there to collect. Routine maintenance is advised to keep this problem from happening.
