Petco had some really pretty male sailfin mollies already in salt. I watched them a couple weeks and bought one for my 15 gal nano. After 2 days he will periodically lay on the bottom of the tank. He’ll perk up when I’m around the tank, but this has appeared on the base of his spinal fin and one spot on his left pec fin. You think lympho? It has only presented since the store, he wasn’t picked on while there. His tail is also getting ratty… I know there’s no point in treating lympho, but should I hit him with metro/Kana prophylactically just in case it’s not? He’s eating mysis like a champ. Tank is 1.023 salinity, 78 degrees.

Are any other fish in with it that could be biting it?

I've never seen Lymphocystis on mollies, but I don't have a very big sample size, othr than I know they don't get it when housed in FW.

Thanks for the reply. There was another male and a female mollie and a scooter blenny in the tank along with some red leg hermits. It does look like he was picked on, but it has gotten worse since he's by himself.

What can happen is a fish gets a small nip in a fin, but then it gets infected and the bacteria increases the amount of damage. If the size is increasing while the fish is in isolation, that is what is happening. A broad spectrum gram negative antibiotic would be indicated then - Neoplex, Maracyn 2 perhaps.
