Mollies in a reef?

gonna try a molly and a few fancy tail guppies ...I just hope they know how to stay away from an anemone.

Well, an update is that while all the mollies seemed fine after just temp acclimation, I had a problem I did not anticipate. My lawnmower blenny seems to have a solid hatred for mollies. I am leaving the lights off today in hopes that calms him down. :(

I'll try guppies too :)
Mollies are already cool in freshwater tanks, I imagine they would be awesome in saltwater!

I have mollies in my tank they make good additions to reefs

How long have they been in there? And what was your method to aclimate?
Idk a long time have had them in just about every tank I've ever had and just dumped them in same as ever other thing that's ever gone in my tank never dripped any fish or coral ,never had one die from not dripping them so don't see the point

Just add two black mollies to my reef can't stop my potters angle from going after them

Turning the lights out and leaving them off for a full day fixed my issue with my blenny going after mine.

That's good to hear. Do you see your mollies out a lot? Mine hides a lot.

I'm not sure mollies or guppies can osmoregulate in reef environment salinity. I've seen wild mollies in freshwater and in brackish mangrove environments, but never in reef or other environments without any supply of freshwater. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but I'm not sure they would last as long or look as good. Wild green mollies in their natural environment are absolutely gorgeous.

thanks.

well i got bad news, it didn't make it. the 6 line wrasse picked on it and the current seems too much for him too. not sure what exactly killed it though...
sailfin molly is a better choice, which i will prob try next or if i can find me a hybrid guppy/molly i'll try that. to be continue...

Over 10 years ago I used them to cycle my tanks. All I did to acclimate was add a 1/4 cup of sw every 15 mins for an hour. Had a few females have babies which did fine until the sw fish were added.

Just added a Molly 5 minutes ago :)
It hung out along the substrate for a few minutes, then my longhorn Cowfish thought it was food so now it's hiding in the rockwork.
