Because I desire nuisance algae eaters as a biological control for Red Gracilaria tumble culture, I have adjusted hatchery mollies to full strength marine. These two males were adjusted to 1.026 SpG 30 days ago. Tank is high energy tumble culture of three types of Red Gracilaria: G Hayi,
G Parvispora and unknown third is being evaluated. Seaweed was brought in from outside culture. It is full of amphipods and copepods. Outside mariculture includes fourth a & fifth generation mollies as well as wild caught ghost shrimp and wild caught green mollies that have crossed with hatchery mollies.

@Subsea do you dose any trace elements, like iron, Manganese, iodine or others for you macro algae cultures?
Thanks.
Interesting the mollies for algae control.

I dose, iron & iodine, as well as ammonia. I am in process to combine a cocktail with miracle grow & ammonia. Macro composition of Carbon/Nitrogen/Phosphate is 560/30/1 and depending on the macro the N/P ratio varies from 80-10 to 1. For miracle grow to be in the correct ratio for marine seaweed requires a lot of nitrogen. Seaweeds favorite source of carbon is CO2. A calcium reactor is your best source of the major and minor minerals that you mentioned as well as supersaturating your system with carbonate & bicarbonate alkalinity. The same bicarbonate that grows coral also grows macro.

Do the pods survive alright with the mollies present?

Amphipods are bigger than Molly spawn. The mollies mostly eat film algae. When I feed flake food, amphipod# & mollies feed at same time.

Wow I lost most of my mollies due to horny males killing each other
