OK, y'all* have done flung a cravin' on me about the mollies from another thread. I went to Wal-Mart today and bought 5 Mollies; 2 Black and 3 Marbled. They were only $1.96 each. I acclimated them for about an hour and released them into the tanks. They didn't act like they realized the difference between Wal-Mart water and reef tank water. Right out of the bag they started picking at the rock and back glass. Tomorrow when the lights are on I'll try to take some pics and show them. If this works as well as it looks like it will I'll go back and get some Plecostomus, that will pretty much take care of any algae in the tanks. It is so exciting to realize that I can simply go to Wal-Mart for fish for my reef tanks!

Hey, it's Friday "happy hour".

* "y'all" is "Southern Talk" for "you all". It refers to a group of people like "Y'all come over to dinner after church on Sunday". This means "you and all the rest of your family". Many people of the "Yankee" persuasion seem to think (sadly) it pertains to one person as well. Nobody south of the northern cites of Chicago, Detroit, Huntsville, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Birmingham, Des Moines, Atlanta, etc. would ever think that it would be applied to a single individual. Sorry, but I just thought it necessary to provide this explanation.

Or "Mayonaise", as in "Mayonaise a lot of fish in that little tank." (Apologies to Jeff Foxworthy)

Harry. Because of you I am fixin to go up there myself. On another note, in a month or so I have a jar of crab apple hooch for ya. Mmmmm

And the plural of y'all is y'ens, which I reckon is synonymous with "all y'all".

"all y'all" is not in our vocabulary. That's like saying "all you all". Just say "y'all"! Like ""Are y'all gonna bring Bubba back home after he meets with his parole officer?

Now that'll get you a frag or two 'fo 'sho. I was talking to Bart the other day about that stuff he used to make. Maybe y'all can come down together.

OMG H@rry, northerners may read this. You are doing irreparable damage. It is almost like a Jerry Jeff Walker song. "Mollies, Wal-Mart, and Crab Apple hooch." Now if we just had trains, trucks, momma, prison, and getting drunk.

While y'all are out at the Wal-marts and pet stores hunting for your freshwater to saltwater conversion specimens, could you let me know if you see any bettas that look reasonably fresh and healthy (and where)? Especially if they are pink.

Wal-Mart had a bunch of them today. I couldn't say how healthy they were though as I was not paying that much attention to them. They were in those little jars about the size of a baseball.

Which Wal-mart? Some have the 18-tank fish displays (but with bettas in the jars), some have only the betta jars, or nothing. Gotta love the $1.49 / liter special "betta water". It's far cheaper than Petco's $4 / liter hermit crab water (with "humidity: 100%" on the label).

BTW, even if the lights are on in the tanks, and it appears the fish department is closed, you should still be able to get fish 24x7. At least this was my experience at almost midnight at the Hwy 20 location. The employee helping me, however, informed me he wasn't allowed to remove the dead fish from the tank.

(I can't believe my 100th post here is about freshwater fish at Wal-mart.)

I was afraid you were going to say that. There are two on South Parkway. One by Drake and Parkway Place Mall and one by Redstone Road and Hobbs Road. I was in the one by Drake the day I came to get rock from you and I don't remember them having a fish system then, but perhaps they are adding them store by store. That one didn't have much in the way of tanks or supplies either. So, I'm guessing you meant the one further down by Redstone Road.

Redstone Road

Well, maybe that was not as good an idea as it seemed. I only see two this morning and one is huddled up in the corner by an overflow. I don't think they handle the flow as well as the "regular" fish.
