Just out of curiosity and for fun, how much money are you into and how big is your tank? Mine is a 28g and I'm probably close to the $5K mark. I can only imagine what some of you with big tanks are at!

I just can't see how $5K goes into a 28g. Could you break it down?

Thanks.

I have a 75 gallon with high quality equipment and I'm probably only around the 2000$ mark. 5000$ for a 28 gallon is pretty far fetched

It's easy to rack up 5K into even a relatively small tank like a 28 gallon. Especially when people follow the fads on lights and pumps and designer corals. I've seen tanks that heve about 500 into them that look far better than these 5,000 dollar tanks. It's all about what you know not what you can spend that makes the difference on a nice tank.

I don't see how you can only spend $500. I have about that much in just my 40B tank and DIY stand and canopy! That doesn't even include hardware or livestock.

I am just guessing right now and don't have access to all of my receipts because I'm at work but I will try to come up with a break down tonight. When I use this number I'm counting all of my testing supplies, livestock(current and not), equipment(replacement bulbs also), dosing supplies, etc over the past 3 years. Just sitting at my desk logging onto my Amazon and Reefs2Go account I can come up with $2555 including my tank, rock, sand and some livestock from the lfs.
