So I almost got set to buy an apex, and I started thinking that really I just want to monitor the water parameters. I haven't seen much good as far as the reviews on seneye and was just looking for a good recommendation on what most people like to use.

Thank you

The cost of a momitor only system and one with comtrol is not significant to a manufacture when you figure in the amount of units sold. The aquarium controller market is a nitch market anyway. There would be fewer monitor only sales so the R&D for it would higher per unit. This may be enough to offset the extra cost of the control hardware. Would you buy a monitor only system if it was the same price as one that also had control capabilities?

Do you need access from locations other than your home. If so then you will need to get something that is network capable. This will rule out stand alone monitors such as Pinpoint. If you don't need that kind of access then Pinpit builds meters that can be used to monitor. Also you can get a entry level controller and add the input modules to get the inputs you wish to monitor. These useually come with just one power bar in most cases.

Tanks are at my office and I just want to be able to watch while I'm at home. I'm starting to agree with you though and may have found a decent deal on a couple of apex labs. In the back of my head the apex is fine I just made the choice to go with pumps and lights not able to be controlled. Minor details in the scheme of things

You can still turn them on and off if you plug them into one of the controller power outlets, if you ever have the need. The controller I have dosen't control my Vortech's but I can still power them on and off if I need. Other wise I have the Reef link to control them. My lights are controlled by my controller via the 2 PWM ports. I also control three dosing pumps with it. I can power the Skimmer and return pump on and off also. I am sure you will find things to control with it.

Nothing beats seeing an issue with your tank from another location and being able to control a device to remedy the situation. For instance, I had noticed once that my salinity was off and when logged in, i noticed that I had not turned the top off back on after some maintenance. it was an easy fix from afar.
