What is with my Montipora? My parameters are:
Nitrates = 8ppm
Phosphate = 0.03 ppm
Kh = 9.3
Calcium = 480
MG = 1320

All these parameters have been very stable.

any recent changes? feedings, fish, invert, lighting, flow, etc

could send out an ICP to see if there are any deficiencies in trace elements.

Nothing really changed in months. I stopped using filter socks a couple months ago but can not see the change in any of my water parameters

Is that a torch at the bottom of the second pic? Could be sending out sweeper tentacles and stinging the monti.

That is an out of focus stylophora. Not really close either. It is about 3" lower and to one side of it in my rockwork. That is a small rainbow bulb tip anemone that is nearer to it. It wandered up there and hasn't moved for a while.

ahhhh, i always get the two mixed up, haha.

the BTA could've potentially stung the setosa causing it to die back(turn black)

Get it in lower par. They don’t like to be baked. Try closer to 150-175. I had one in par that high and found out after it started dying they like less par than most sps

If it’s too much light wouldn’t it turn black on the best lit parts? The part that’s turning black is a little on the underside

i agree

send out an ICP and make sure your trace elements are good. i don't believe it was the lights; could be the BTA that stung it or lack of trace elements.
