I added a 180g after my 50g cube was a year old. After a year I ended up shutting down the 50. “Proper” maintenance wasn’t a reality for both with my life schedule. I’m much less stressed handling one tank , especially with adding a trident to help with testing and dosing.

i'm approx 3000litres
the obvious one is cost
but ignoring that at it was obvious (price of the plumbing (roughly £1000) caught me out

bit the main challenge was stocking as you can have a lot more fish which itself gives the headache (a nice one admittedly) of compatibility and then actually being able to get them at the correct size as so not to cause an immediate issues it took a heck of a lot longer than i ever imagined

I voted other. The biggest challenge for me would be having enough money to fill it so it doesn't look empty.

My currant tank is 120 Gallons, My next one will be between 210-250, I dont expect there to be much difference. Maybe I'm wrong about that. I will do a build thread btw.

Go with commercial grade equipment. most of mine is public aquarium grade and installed outdoors and plumbed in remotely. Hobby grade isn’t worthy it after about 1000 liters IMO. My largest system is several thousand liters so commercial grade it is!

And the wives are happy as long as you spend as much on them as they want. So that way I spend as much as I want on my systems!
