I just wanted to start a thread to chronicle the growth of this chalice. It's a notoriously slow grower, but I'm pretty happy to see how it's doing in my tank.

Here is a pic from the thread where the frag was purchased from Jan 2010.

This picture was taken in Oct. 1, 2011 shortly after I acquired it.

This was taken today. I didn't realize how much it's grown until I compared the 2. It's still on the same plug.

Nice growth.....my frag never grew and slowly wilted away......next time, I will only purchase a MM frag if it is decent size.......

Scares me to frag it!

I'll try eventually and see how it does.

It hates being fragged. I wouldn't do it!

Yours is looking great!

Wow SD, that's one of the bigger pieces I've seen. Looks like it's happy in your tank, have you fragged yours before? I almost cut mine a few weeks ago, glad I didn't.

I have not, but the guy I got mine from would always have quite a bit of recession after cutting his (both frag and MC).

Sad to say I lost this and about $4k worth of other high end corals last week. :mad2:

Really getting sick of the ups and downs in this hobby.

Wow I feel your pain I too had a hi in that ballpark last year due too a heater malfunction. I have a 3 eye monster mash that is slow growing also I'll try postin up a pic tomorrow

It sucks, lost several high end chalices and SPS. Something happened in my temp tank and I lost about 80% of everything I had.

Yea I believe by the time I got home my water temp was 93  and needless to say I started to  nice to see you didn't quit I know I was border line quitting. But this hobby is my passion  and the wife says I pay more attention to my tank than I do her :xd:

ok here a shot of my lil gem picked up not so long ago

Congrats, it's a great piece that's hard to come by. I guess that's why I'm so ****** about it, between it, my Mr. Pacman acro, Blue Flame Acro and Melting pot, I still wanna cry.

Yea it sucks too lose nice pieces but I'm regaining a lot of what I lost  you should also there out there believe me I've been hunting
