Looks like a Xenia or Kenya tree that came on the plug. It doesn’t move from where it is connected to the plug right?

Nope. It started really tiny and now has grown to be about 2.5 inches tall. Touching my Monti. I would like to move it somewhere else but not sure how

kenya trees and Xenia can grow from the smallest amount of flesh left from cutting or scraping it off. It is one of the two. Looka more like a Xenia with the ends closed up. Maybe it’ll be a waving hand Xenia and pulse for you. Pretty cool, but they spread like wildfire!

Simply trim at lowest part of base and replant in new location in tank

It does not look like a kenya tree. I think it is is a Xenia after googling picks. Hard to tell since I have MP40s in my tank blasting it

Is there a way I can make sure it does not grow back? I have not glued the monti disc yet and would like it taken care of before that.

When you say trim and replant. Do I just cut with a clean razorblade and then glue it to a plug? I have a 13 gallon nano in my son's room.

Take a razor under the base. It’ll likely shrivel up but you can rubberband it to a piece of rubble and it’ll be fine. As for where you cut it off, scrub it with a brush outside of the tank and discard the water.

Or score and snap the frag plug where the Xenia is at.

Ok. Here goes. My monti is spreading good. Hope this doesn't tick it off

Place a dab of superglue gel type over it or even kalkwasser made into a paste

All done.
Puttied monti and put "whatever it is" in the 13 gal nano.
Still no fish. 76 days fallow is up on Valentines Day.

Here is the "whatever it is"

The monti... Looks to be spreading pretty good for a month if the asterina stars would stay off of it and the Harlequin shrimp would get busy...
