So I thought my hammer coral was stinging my monti cap since it was turning white near where the hammer was. I decided to move the hammer and break off the white parts of the monti cap (maybe that is where I went wrong). Now a few days later my whole colony is white.

Any ideas what I did wrong? Should I just break off the skeleton from the rocks now?

in my experience don't count out a monti cap until algae is growing on it. My green cap has been stung twice now, become almost entirely white, but has bounced back both times.

Also, I think moving the torch was good, but fragging the monit may have been unnecessary. I know with some SPS fargging immediately is the best option, but from my personal experience this is not the case with montis.
