Hello, Im in the middle of a tank swap and have slowly been moving my corals from my older established tank to my newer larger one. Yesterday I moved my red monti and green Slimer into my new tank. Woke up this morning and the monti had this white furry slim on it. I tried to gently blow some off with the pipet and some red coloring. Wonder if the tank swap shocked it. Should I give it another day or two or start fragging it so I don't lose the whole thing?

look like a substance known as chrysophytes but not positive due to heavy blue lighting
You may have to dip in 3% peroxide to loosen this stuff up then try blowing off with gentle bursts from a turkey baster

My tank wakes up super blue. This should be better for IDing.

Still has the appearance of chrysophytes but can also be protective mucus separation due to:
Flow issue
too much light
low calcium
Elevated alk
elevated phosphate level

A few things to check

could It be a sponge growing over it? What happens when you take a turkey baster to it? Does it just come right off?

I did some googling of this "golden algae" you speak of and i think that's it. I took it out and sprayed it off with some peroxide. Hopefully not to lose anymore of it but I will have to drag it if it gets worse.

The joys of doing a tank swap I guess. Little nervous to move the rest of my across over but I guess it's a risk to switch to better tank.

I definitely used the wrong verbiage. I dipped a Q tip in peroxide and very gently dabbed it over the coral. Then washed it in fresh SW and blew the algae off with the pipet.
