My monti cap bleaching in the middle and it colored back up a darker red. Now the outer part is a little bleached but i cant figure out why. Could it be do to high alk because mine is 14dkh

Also the underneath the cap where it bleached now is really red instead of white

High alk can cause alk burn on sps. Got a pic of the coral? If it's just the rim that is white it might be growth.

Im not home now. But I will take a picture when I get home and it's not growth. But why did this also happen to the middle and the middle all of the sudden was fine

The picture makes it look a little worse.

Looks like a bad case of alk burn. Do you have any other sps in the tank? How did the alk get high?

Yeah i have 3 other pieces amd they are fine. And i believe i dosed too much.

Will it heel and how can i lower the alk

It's possible it will heal. I did the same thing once and it came back. I would let the alk fall normally or do water changes with a lower alkalinity salt.

Okay what should i keep my alk at 8-9. And when i look on the underneath of the cap it almost looks like all the color is under there because its all red instead if white do you know why this could have happened
