Hey there, need some tips. I have a nice piece of green montipora capricornus that I got a couple of months ago. Since then it has doubled in size and seems to be doing pretty good. Over the last few days I have noticed that it seems to be a more pale green and not as bright as it used to be. I did see polyp extension today though. I have a maxspect 16k light overhead that I have been running for a couple of months as well. The monti is about 16" from the light but it is pretty direct light. Calcium is 340ppm, ph 7.8, phos and nitrates slightly elevated but not much there. I have started to vodka dose my tank, but still am at the beginning stages, 0.2ml a day (4days in). Could it be the light is too strong for it and I need to move it down? Do I need to supplement feed the monti with anything special? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What's your mag. And alk? I keep my ph around 8.1. U dose 2 part.

well, bad me, but I don't have a mag test kit yet. (I know i know) I use RC as a salt and i supplement with Seachem Calcium supplement that has mag and strontium as well. Calcium levels are steadily improving. I use marine buffer to get my ph up a bit, but it's a slow process. My tank used to be a fowlr and I am switching to a reef. I'm still wondering if I am giving it too much light

U can try and moving it down. I would check mag and alk. Maybe have a local reefer check it the water or lfs. I used rc before and had hard problems keeping my water stable. Now I use ESV and everything is always on point when I mix the salt. Also dose with esv 2 part. I may switch dosing to something else in future but it works well for me now.
