So I have several different questions regarding my red monti cap I purchased not even 3 hours ago...

For starters, before putting it into my tank I reluctantly tried removing the frag plug and broke the 3 inch monti in half. I managed to glue them pretty seamlessly back together and I was wondering whether they would fuse back together in time....

My second question is how to tell whether monti's are happy. Its fairly easy to tell with softies, lps and zoas whether their happy or ticked off. I was curious as to what signs I could look for to see if its doing well or isn't so happy.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you look at it. It has small polyps on it. If there out it’s happy. Also color lose is a sign of it being unhappy. And yes it will grow over it’s self where you glued it Remember it’s a sps so it like good flow and good light

They normally grow extremely fast, so I just look at the edges, which will be white showing new growth. If I stop seeing that, I assume it isn't happy and start checking water parameters. Chris04 is correct though....if you look really close, you can see small polyps.

When I look at it I see what look like tiny spikes sticking out all over it... Would these be the polyps. Sorry I know I sound like a serious noob just confused

Sounds like it’s happy with the polyp extensions, did you consider start 2 frags instead of 1 before gluing?( just a thought)

Could be, can you post a picture?

Caps typically have tiny bumps or "spikes", those are polyps.

Heres the picture...Also forgot to mention I came home from work today and found what looked like a couple brown web like strings on top of this coral. I just turkey basted them off but I was confused.

Color looks good, tissue looks good. It should be fine.

As others stated, doesn't look like polyps but it does look healthy. Polyps look like super tiny flowers, that move with the water current. On montis they are extremely small and harder to see unless you look really close.
