Bought this large piece of monti so large I couldn’t have it underwater for the car ride home 30-40 mins.
Got the coral in the tank looked good has a few aptasia within it. Had it for 2 months and everyday I seem to lose the coral. I definetly have montipora eating nudibrachs have bought 2 wrasses which seem to be eating one pest or another.
Parameters are pretty stable - PO4 was out of whack in November up to 2.4 have been trying to reduce it since currently at 0.5.

salinity checked using calibration liquid and apparently my tanks been at 1.023 forever AHHH.

alk - 8.4
Cal -450
Mg 1400
Ph 8.2
Temp 25

no dosing

my question is will this monti survive is there anything else I can do? And the damage seen does it look like nudibranch damage or more like parameter damage?

have noticed my flame angel also pop over and nip and swim off most likely pellets stuck on the coral

any help appreciates reaaaaaaaly don’t want to lose this

Have you checked your par on those LEDs
Looks like it’s being over cooked. Either that or the stress from the nudis

Wait
How are reducing po4 from 2.4 to 0.5?

Have no way of checking PAR but I highly doubt it’s too much light il show the set up. The monti is in the corner of the tank so the least light possible?

Po has been reduced for a whole month using phosguard used an entire tub. Followed instructions and used a bag in front of the power head as no reactor throughout the month. Currently the Po4 is as 0.25-0.5 water change every week of 45 litres probably helping too.

I hate phosguard. I know the nudis are irritating it but phosguard isn’t helping. I have a tank that’s been at 0.50 and higher for months and months my corals don’t have any problems. I would get rid of the phosguard asap. I’ve never had the monti eating nudis so I don’t know how to advise on eliminating them.

I stressed/lost corals every time I’ve used media to get to the magical “ideal” levels.
They are truly magical products. Corals just disappear CFBA3A87-5755-494E-8AD6-ADD5ECCA5D96.jpeg

Ran out of phosguard in early jan haven’t had anything since. Not sure what is causing such rapid coral loss however - doubt the nudis are causing the damage as it goes brown and slimy the parts that die off and all white underneath? Maybe not enough light? Going to try reposition to centre of my tank lost more than 50% of it already ah
