How would you treat a Monti Frag that came from a tank with monti eating Nudis. It's in a Qtank.
thanks

Special piece I wwould really like to save.
AS said its in quarantine so don't mind having to restart the quarantine or keep it Monti free for few months if I can't save it.

Cut it off any base, superglue over everything that isn't live nudi-free immaculate colored up top tissue and regrow from there. Plus bayer, plus constant inspection. I would go longer than 5 weeks if you have other montis you are worried about.

Thanks, will try that.
got no other monties in the tank but will leave it for 2-3 months in the Q tank just to make sure.

I agree, first response is trash... you can find another frag thats not got the risk. I have trashed more than a few frags that had nudi's.

but if you insist on keeping it. superglue, puddy, and frequent bayer dips.... for at least 8-10 weeks.

That'd have to be one special piece to go through the lengthy and tedious process of QT, monitoring, dipping etc. I'd throw it away

Take it from someone that has gone through them. Toss the frag while you have a chance. Even if that frag dies, the nudis can live for months without montis. You do not want that anywhere near your system

Thanks for all the replies.Jgraz comment is kind of scary. Any idea how long Nudis can last without montis in the tank?
Thanks.

I had them at one point, I pulled all monti's from my display and fragged everything and discarded the rest. All frags were moved to my frag tank and dipped in melafix and revive, this was before bayer, once a week for about three months. It was about six months before I put any monti's back into my display and have free of them ever since. If you have a piece dificult and/or expensive to replace then I'd keep it. So long as you can qt it then you'll have no issues. Every new coral should be treated like it is infected by something, that is the only way to keep your system pest free. Saving that monti should be no different than having a new coral in qt.

I have seen them appear out of nowhere in a qt tank after 2 months of bikweely dips in revive

bayer 10ml per cup every 4-5 days,5 weeks
yeah, why did you get it ?

solid advise don't stray from the dipping regiment they are asexual but cant fertilize their own eggs so if there are two of them they can reproduce quickly
