Well that is one source for killing it. Get the Alk checked asap. ITs the one thing you should be checking all the time.

Ok just found out my mag was at 1100 !!! Started soaring tonight everything else other than nitrates are great

Stabilize magnesium around 1300 over a few days. Then test alk morning and night for a week or 2 without doing water changes. Then test the new saltwater calc, alk, mag, before doing water change and then test the tank again after water change. This will give you an idea of what your tank is doing/consuming.

Magnesium at 1100 isn't terrible. What salt are you using? What salinity do you run your tank at and how are you measuring salinity? Water changes usually keep magnesium levels ok on their own, or it takes a while for it to decrease significantly.

Ok so John @YourReef has given me a bunch of new found truth about my ex LfS stating that they use terrible salt for their water and has told me that he uses reef crystals I personally don’t mix my own tried failed terribly lol also a try to keep my water at 1.025-1.026 tested by refractometer calibrated and tested daily so I will now be utilizing johns water for my water changes

I invested in som mag and was prescribes 1 teaspoon morning and night for 1 week than as u described to follow suit

Good deal, just making sure you have a reliable way to make sure your salinity is correct. If it was lower than what you thought, that could make magnesium a touch low.

Sounds like you're on the right track!

Sounds like great advice! No need to rush that magnesium up there, as 1100 wouldn't call for emergency anything. Slow changes win the race and testing for a while will be your friend! Then after a bit you will know your tank so well, you will know the test results before you even do them!

Monti is looking better!
