Hey guys I have some monti cap and it’s recently fallen off the glass behind the rock work. So all things said and done I destroyed my aquascape to get it back and now it’s looking really bad. I’ve had it for a week or two now and it’s been great but after the fall it has turned white on the edges and some places are chipped also it’s got a lot of mucus around it and I’m really worried!! It’s my first sps frag and I’m trying to do things right, I’ll gave to get a pic when there’s light but in the meantime any suggestions?

It will come back. Needs plenty of light. Get some pics up.

This one did that once. Now its got so big I had to move it from my reef tank to my fowlr tank. Its almost 15 inch's across. Was 3 or 4 inch a year ago.

As you can see it’s pale and chipped you can’t see it in this pic but the edges are white. It’s looking better than yesterday but it’s still in bad shape. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

It will bounce back just fine

They generally recover well as long as parameters in range and fairly stable

Did it land on another coral?
If it did it may have been stung.
They typically are bullet proof and will recover.
No what happened was my lawnmower blenny was laying on it and the glue broke and if landed behind all the rocks and it took me a couple hours to get to it but one I got it it was all beaten up.

Speaking of stinging corals I’ve got some elegance coral stinging the crap out of my candy cane coral so I moved it and I’m waiting to see how that goes

Everything is in range anything I can do to help it out? This is my first sps and I want it to do great!!
Its more of a damage that will heal as monti secretes a protective mucus. Unlike fish, nothing you can add that promotes healing.

I’ve honestly not had much luck with montipora in the past, but from my limited knowledge of corals I would say move it up. Brighter colored specimens tend to like high light when purple or brown animals like Lower light.

Medium light and moderate water flow.
Focus looking at your pic on:
Alk
Calcium
salinity
water temp
nitrate

I had that happen too. My torch and elegance got in a big war and they are still going at it! The best thing to do is to feed each of them a ton because that will encourage them to chill a bit. Believe it or not in my experience corals retract a bit when they are fed more often than nkt
