Has anyone ever seen a monti cap that has this furry look? This is a seasons greetings and it always looks like it has hair algae growing all over it. However, it can retract them and it looks smooth and bright green (like if a snail goes across it, it will leave a clean trail but, then its covered again moments later). Any ideas?

What you describe just sounds like polyps retracting and no issue at all. To me though that does not look anything like a seasons greeting monti I have seen.

You may be on to something. It was sold to me by my LFS as a seasons greeting monti. Here's a picture before it started growing a beard. Maybe its not a monti at all. Could it be a porites?

Doesn't look like any plating monti I have seen(like the seasons greetings is). Looks more like an encruster of some sort.
Yeah, I think it actually is a porites. I just watched a vid that Thein from Tidal Gardens made about this coral and he stated that in the wild, they look almost furry. I'm going with porites. :) Thanks all
