Montipora? Cyphastrea? Porites?

The fact that I couldn't positively ID this guy was reason enough for me to grab him, anybody recognize it? The guy at the LFS said "type of encrusting montipora" but I'm not so sure, the size of the polyps and the mound/ring just around them make me think more Cyphastrea than Montipora, as the typical Monti I've come across has smaller, more defined polyps. Someone else in-store suggested Porites but I'm not certain that fits.

Im also in the same boat as you but it can be a turninaria or astreapora i had it from bleaching till recovering

The OP's coral is has a different structure than yours, his is not a turbinara.

Yeah, not a Turbinaria, I'm fairly certain it's a Cyphastrea at this point, maybe Astreapora. It' a nice deep green, lovely coral

Very likely Astreopora.

So, after a while of getting acclimated to my tank (and showing a bit of growth )I'm thinking Astreapora fits best. It has an interesting white coloration to the very center of the mouths too. Neat coral for sure and I'm very happy I grabbed it. Next to a Cyphastrea frag for comparison.



Can't wait until it gets some nice size to it
