Hi.

I'm not sure if I have a problem and would like some advice please.

I've got what looks like bite marks on one of my Montis, I don't have any fish that would nip at the corals. and it's only on one monti at the moment.

Do these look like something is eating the monti or is it being nipped by possibly my very small yellow tail tamarin wrasse ?

Only a few wrasse eat coral and Tamarins are not known for that.
I agree with the above, looks something like a Nudibranch has taken advantage.

I fort nudi to be honest just wanted someone else to take a look.

I do also have a bicolour blenny that is recently added with the wrasse .

I can't see any nudis from just looking. I can take a bit of monti out dip it

Just moved this frag to get some better pictures, I'll take more once the polyps have come back out.
I've never had nudis before so not sure what damage should look like. This looks like scratches more than something had eaten it ?

Oh… Blennies and SPS is a big no for me now. I have had 2 bicolors and a Linear nip the SPS polyps. My bicolours liked Monti but my linear hates it and prefers the RD Joker Staghorn which is also my most expensive coral in the tank.

Would you say the last pictures I posted are nudi or blenny marks ?

Ah, I was thinking hmmm those look like blenny mouth marks...

I've only had these marks since adding the blenny and the wrasse

As I say never delt with nudi so not sure what the damage should look like

+1 to this, they definitely look more like blenny marks now you mention having a blenny in the tank.

Well that's good news to be honest, I can catch and move the blenny see how things go
Actually, now that I think about it it can’t be nudibranchs since you have a Halichoeres wrasse that are good for eating them in the tank.

Didnt realize blenny in the tank. Since blennies frequent shallow tropical waters, they find their sanctuary within the coral reefs. They circle areas with coral branches and sponges, scraping their way along the diverse sea bottom. Their feeding techniques are to pound and gnaw the coral, and as a result, they ingest detritus, or waste material primarily, from the coral. This includes bits of coral skeleton, sand, gravel, and other organic matter, such as fish eggs and tiny crustaceans.

I'm going to catch the blenny and put him in a separate tank.

The damage does lookalike scrapping/scratches

Will hopefully resolve the problem once the fish is moved
