Montipora Growing Downward

I have this montipora capricornus that is growing downward and slightly outward. Didn't get a chance to get a photo of it before I left this morning but it's basically forming a cone. Any ideas?

I'm not at all certain what affects monti's growth patterns.

The growth pattern your seeing is probably due to the currents in your tank. If the coral is in a spot where the the flow is constantly coming from the left it will most likely grow to the right.

I could also be forming its base.
