I wasn't sure where to post this. I have a Red encrusting montipora, the coral is growing fine and has been doing great. when I originally put it in the tank there were a couple Zoas on the rock with it. I didnt think much of it, the Zoas grew very quickly and and grew right up to the edge of the montipora. last night I had noticed that a Zoa is growing right on top of the edge of the montipora. how do I get rid of the Zoas..? and will they kill the Montipora?

the easiest way is to cut the offending coral off... @Shep/@Oscaror what do you recommend?

Cutting either the zoas away or the monti away would work....you could always just let nature take its course and just let them fight it out. I do not think that the zoas will kill the entire monti, best they could do is keep an area around them clear which I have seen them do before.

That is what i was hoping would happen but when i saw one of the Zoas growing right on top of it and the surrounding area had a greenish hue to it was became a little concerned.

Some zoas grow like weeds and will grow over things, if that is the case then keep the zoas trimmed away until the monti can cover that area.
