Hello,

I was given these monti by a fellow reefer back in December and they continue to grow in size and do well. The question I have is what kind of montipora is it? All I was told was “Red”, “Green”, & “Tan” I’ve read a ton about plated vs cap monti and different ways of fragging and care, but it would be nice to be able to ID these.

Picture is what they looked like when I first got them.

Plating is just the growth pattern, they can be both Montipora Capricornis and plating montipora. Close ups under white lights may help/reveal somthing different, however, calling them green and red monti caps or green and red plating montis is probably sufficient/appropriate.

The "tan" I don't know. . . it may have a more specific trade name but "tan plating monti" is probably sufficient.

The middle coral looks like a Hollywood stunner chalice. Then the one on the right looks like a red monti

Gotcha. Is there a way to frag them so they make the spiral/multi level look? Or will that be done naturally
