Hey guys, is this some sort of encrusting montipora?

I just noticed it growing on a paly frag I received about a month ago.
Appears to be orange in color, looks like polyps coming out of it and polyps in other random areas. It looks like that's possibly what it used to be, but "died" and then a paly was fragged onto the plug..

My guess is poccilopora - we have tons of them in one of our tanks. How you handle it depends upon whether you want any of it to grow in your tank (they can get to almost plague like proportions). If you don't want them a dab of kalk paste on them will suffice or you may be able to nip them off with a razor blade or bone cutter. You can always let them continue to grow until you get a positive id. You can then make the call on removing the paly's or not. Either way, kind of a fun hitchhiker.

Hmmm, pocillopora? I would have guessed Cyphastrea. I have never seen a pocillopora with polyps so far apart. Stylocoeniella is a definite possibility. Too bad it isn't a burnin banana stylocoeniella.

Bottom line it is encrusting and will spread. Either it or the zoas will lose the battle eventually. Pick your team and root/help that one.

I am not sure about the one on the right if it is a coral it does looks more like an encrusting coral such as cyphastrea but the two in the middle look exactly like the small poccilipora in our tank when they first start to grow. I will post a pic later when lights are on.

I didn't even take notice of the ones on the left. I focused on the bigger one on the right, and assumed they were the same.

The other two do look like baby pocillopora. If they are, they will grow up taller and can be cut off the plug and relocated. The encrusting one will continue to encrust and spread if it grows.

Thanks for the input, guys! I look forward to seeing this thing grow as I'm still not 100% on what it actually is.
I've been looking up skeletons of the ones you all have mentioned trying to match up to mine. I've noticed that my polyps have 6 "holes" each and haven't found a skeleton like that yet.

Planning on removing the palys when I get a minute.

Here's a couple more cell phone pics-

I wouldn't venture to guess, however I believe you got the 2 for 1 special. Let it grow and see what happens. It doesn't look like it will take over anytime soon.

Taking a closer look it looks like star polyps almost zoom in on the pic and you can see fingers my styloc is hairy this looks almost rubbery I dunno can you get a closer pic?

I will try. Cell phone's not the best.
I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Sorry guys.. probably the closest I can get without getting too terribly blurry.
