Monti's dieing and not sure why

So i came home from vacation today and i found my tyree jedi mind trick almost completly dead along with my rainbow star burst monti with a little bleeching along the edges. I'm starting to dig a little on my parameters and then im going to inspect for any kind of bugs any ideas, would pics help you guys? im realy at a lost on what could be wrong, it's only montis which leads my to alk, or bugs mostly.

My encrusting monti's always start to look stressed when my alk gets too low like below 8 for me.

If anything is high i think, but its not stressed, half of it i white.

I had a 6 degree temp swing in the past few days. To tell the trueth i have never had die off because of temp swing and would think it would have to be more then that, it was 76-81.

well my tank got up to 86 from 78....chiller died...go figure!

Wow my alk was a little low acualy amazingly low, it was 7.5-8 not sure some where in there. I normaly run it at ten so i assume thats where it came from.

Now that this thread is open just for personal knowlage what do monti eating nudi's look like, and can they been seen with the naked eye?

Yes with close inspection they are visible, most visible when removing with a treatment, the eggs are the biggest pain cuz the treatments do not effect them and a week after treatment you can have another bloom.
As for the temp swing all I can tell you is not enough people use evaporative cooling, a small massey fan can be bought at walmart for like $5.00. I use 2 of those on a 140 galon system and my chiller never comes on.

White and if you want to see them move look at night otherwise look under the edges of the coral in the daytime to see them resting.

I would like to see a photo of the whole coral and a close up shot. It may have black bugs.

I wouldn't say your Alk was too low. I would definitely be on the lookout for the nudis in the white areas. They are tiny. If you find any nudis get some TLF Revive and it will knock them off, but does not kill eggs so multiple dips and quarantine are usually necessary. Hopefully you don't find any.

You prob have what I had earlier this summer. I had both alk spike AND temp spike...and i lost about 80 percent of my montis in the tank. It was a horrible experience. I also lost a few of my sps although most of them did fine. Montis usually show the first sign of stress in a unstable tank. Do some water changes, get your alk/temp back on track, and things will look up from there. Good luck.

I think this may be the prob but i cant help but let my mind wonder on it may be the cause of bugs. I mean i did leave for five days maybe somthing happened and worked its self out while i was gone. Also how many degree change would you consider a temp swing? here are the pics i stated above.

Will they be moving when on the coral i stear at them quite frequently and dont see them ever.. I might think this might be a combination of of temp and alk, is there any keys to keping stedy alk other then the weekly water change? i have a cal rex, but most of my tank is frags and i dont think one is able to be even used yet due to im not using enough cal/alk for it to work properly.

I thought i saw nudi eggs in one of those pics.
They hide during the day and come out at night, look at night with a flashligt for them.

I would dip them in revive to and see what comes off.
