Hey I’m new to this forum but long time hobbiest. I’m looking for montis to add to my reef tank but want to learn about best conditions for them to thrive-not much past luck. Anyone have any to trade or sell? Hollywoods seem to be easiest

Montis in general are a little intolerant to alk swings
Stability is key .
What exactly are you looking for ?

I have found the red plating montipora to be the easiest
Some of the encrusting ones are hit or miss

Oh sorry Hollywood stuner. I’m watching video now about SPS optimum care. So I should go with either encrusting or plated? If so I lean toward plated. Thx!

Big fans of the montis! Found that dosing the proper amounts of Alk & Calcium to be key and adjusting those doses as they grow.

Hollywood stunners can be tricky if parameters aren’t stable .
I have never had long term success .
they are aggressive towards other corals placed close .

not to be taken in a bad way at all ….
id strongly recommend research what you want while letting your system mature and stabilize .
the slightest fluctuation in parameters can eradicate whole systems of sps in a very short time .

do you know your systems alk and cal consumption per day ?
