does anyone run their moon light/accent lights 24/7 is it bad or good or neutral for reef and fish tanks

I have an 8 hour period of absolute darkness. Fish don't have eye lids, so I imagine it helps them sleep when there isn't any light.

moon lights are just for looks. Its a personal preference. I like them so i can see the nocturnal creatures come out at night but there on 24/7. There not intense enough to do anything.

Lol wow just saw how i spelled lighting any ways i was wondering because i was trying to put my day lights on a timer but they are all in the same lamp so i gave up and wanted to know if it was beneficial or not before i went out and bought another lamp just you moon light

When buying light fixtures, you'd want to make sure they have multiple power cords, IE 1 for daylight, 1 for Actinic, and 1 for Moonlight...Or if you want to spend the extra cash there are lights that are programmable with built in timers.

I turn mine on when i get home and then turn them off when i go to bed. Actinics go off at 11. So the moonlights stay on about 6 pm to 1 am.

Right now im running a 10 gallon system but later on when i get into my 100g i want the apex system

I run my radion in a 24hr period. I have the moonlights on very little just to give some effect. I like the look and it seems my dwarf certh snails will come out and be more active when moonlights are on vs when they are off. so i run them with just a tiny bit of moonlight just so my snails are more productive through the night.

I use aqua lumen blue strip for moonlight/ blue accent. Goes on for a little when my lights are on and stays on for 2 hrs after the lights go off. Mainly just for look. Some of my corals start to close up after the first hour of blue.
