What are the best moon lights out there? Im lookign for something for my 55gal.
I was looking at some LED's on ebay that you can put inside the tank but didnt know if they were any good.

any suggestions?

dont laugh but I bought some blue led xmas light during the holidays. 100ct strands for 2bucks. Tacked some outside corner wood inside my canopy and drilled holes for the lights to drop down into and it turned out great. these are the ones that you can remove a bulb and the strand still works. I bought 4 sets. So if they dont last long I am only out 2 bucks. The looks are great and well worth the price. here are some pics of the canopy and the light mounts.

i will have to take some pics with just the LED's on.

I have the Current USA powerbrights on two of my tanks. They only have 4 LEDs and you can see each beam of light. The stunners have 12 and they have a perfect spread and are much brighter. They both have the same color(referring to the blues), but the stunners are just much better, in my opinion.

I've got white moonlights and my roommate has blue. They were from drs foster/smith.com I like the effect that both colors produce but I have NO experience with any other setup.

i also have the power brights and really like them - but i got to see an ecoexotic this weekend and it was very nice

one thing though - imo both were too bright to be moon lights. My fish do not go to sleep with them on and the corals don't send out their feeders till after they are off. I use mine just to prolong the tank viewing time not as all night moon lights

If you want a more dimmed moon light that is Led try the Ice cap Reef Illuminations Led tube.....It is a great product for moon lights, it is bright enough to give you a bit of fluorescents but not so bright that it looks like the actinics are on.....well worth the money and pretty inexpensive as well.

There is a thread somewhere online that people buy those LED cigarette socket lights for in the car (ricer style) from walmart or kragen. Then just wire them with an old cell phone charger 12v ac adapter.
