i'm not sure if anyone has done this but here is something i came up with for moonlights.

things needed....
-flex led (autozone) $15.99 for 8"(two 4") or $19.99 for 24" (two 12")
-rocker or toggle switch (radio shack) $4
-12V power supply (any electronics store) around $10
-extra wire
-connectors

these led strips are covered with some kind of rubber which makes them water resistant (not to be confused with waterproof) and have 3m double sided tape on the back side. on these led strips you can cut it to any length you prefer. i plan on putting mine under the middle support brace of my tank. they are very bright and extra thin. they require a 12volt power supply and nothing less. hopefully they'll work fine.

yeah, they look exceptionally bright. May keep your fish up all night. What size is your tank and how much are you planning to trim it?

They are really bright. My tank is a 56 column. Tried these lights and they are perfect for my tank

Just went and got a pair of these. Wired right up to a old 12v supply from burned out moon light fixture. I got 2 x 12" for my 55 gal. I have 3 PC 65w and I can tell when these LED strips are turned on. I can't see dif when my 250w 20k hamilton comes on though.
