This is totally anecdotal but I have done a dozen or so night dives in my life and when you turn the dive light off at 30+ ft. of depth, it is very, very dark... as in you can't see your hands. For what most reefers are hoping to achieve, I think the risk of too much light at night is greater than not enough.

generally not. The Par or intensity is so low its not an issue.If used, do you need to figure that into your lighting schedule?
