After 28 days I finally found what it likes to chow on! Local black mussels. Saw it ate Mysis shrimp at LFS but showed no interest in my tank. For 28 days it just grazed on my sponge covered live rocks. Two weeks in, it was covered with Ich, harassed by my Niger Trigger, streamer and fins nipped at but managed to recover. I since moved the trigger to my 95G frag tank. It would nip on Nori once in awhile. Foods I tried were Spectrum pellets, Mysis shrimp, freshly shucked oyster, prawn roe, and long neck clam with no luck. Yesterday, I placed an orange tree sponge and it nips at it from time to time but the mussels really got its attention tonight. It's eating very well and still nips at sponges and grazes live rock for a well balanced diet. Time to fatten this fish up!

Glad it's working out, but I shudder thinking about the rest of the folks who may read and possibly be tempted to try where 99.999% of the time the fish don't survive.

Moorish Idols should not be collected.

Scallops were the key for me. He still gets them daily along with all foods offered. Good luck.
