Where can I find good specimen.

Just saw your other post about not having luck with fish. You may want to work out all those issues first before attempting a difficult fish like the MI.

Moorish idols are very difficult to keep. They need special care in regards to the diet etc. QT is a must IMO, that with all fish but especially these. Live foods on hand when they arrive as well as offering nori daily.

I just received two last week, they both ate frozen on the first day. Mine came from online.

I also think that the location collection plays a large roll in the long term success.

My first choice is Maldives, the only other place I would order from is Hawaii.

I live in NJ and contacted NYAquatic to come by and take a look. At the time, he had two and both ate ferociously. I observed him a while and bit the bullet.

My experience so far has been similar to HotRocks. He nibbled on frozen mysis on day 2. On day three he was eating nori and anything frozen and meaty. He’s 3 weeks in QT now and eats directly out of my hand to make sure his tank mates don’t beat him to the food. He took to pellets about 2 weeks in.

I’d give those guys a PM and see what he has.

Not sure if you are still looking for one, but TSM has 6 that just came out of a full QT and all eat frozen, pellets, and nori.
