I guess spawning season is Jan-March for most marine animals. Following my findings of 2 baby porcelain crabs, tonight I found a baby urchin. I haven't gotten new rock, and I know it can't be from when I got my tank set up initially since the hitch hiking urchin I got then is now a giant. The baby's body is about half an inch in diameter and the spines appear greenish with purple (parent is purple, from Florida). My tank has been fallow for almost 3 months now so that explains how the eggs didn't get eaten. Plus with so much rock work he could have been in there a while without the fish noticing. Parent urchin is about 5-6 inches in diameter with spines. First pic of baby, second pic is of parent.
