Hey everyone. I noticed a few days ago that my clownfish had both developed small pinhead sized black marks. Worried, I looked it up to see it could be hypermelanization or black ich. I do have a culprit that could sting them (frogspawn) and a few other new corals I'm not sure about (a blastomussa, and a favia) I decided to wait and see a bit, but this morning I noticed a new, much bigger spot on one of their fins and decided to post here.

However, I saw another post with black spots on clownfish that looked a bit like mine, with the consensus being hypermelanization. I am mostly reassured by this, but wanted to post anyway just to see if people agree. I'm sorry if this seems like a redundant post, but I'd hate to not post only to find out you guys could have spotted a worse problem.

Spots are circled for your convenience, some are hard to see and are very small.

They seem to be acting normal for them. Also no spots on the wrasse, blenny, or goby

I'd just keep an eye on them then. It's likely from the frogspawn. Nice looking clowns :)

+1 to hypermelanization.
Especially if your clown/clowns are attempting to host the spawn. Probably getting stung. Keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the reassurance. The frogspawn has looked a little deflated the past few days so maybe they've been annoying it. I wasn't sure since the frogspawn was in the back left corner, while the clowns usually hang out by the front right (by the favia) but I realize they could be sneaking back there at night
