for about 6 months ive had my 220g tank up and running, sps dominant. i started off with about 30 1" frags and i bought the "neccesary" equipment and kept my parameters where there should be. at that time i had 2 clowns, 1 tang, 3 gobies and 5 chromis. the growth of the sps was very slow, although color was great. i tried all kinds of additives, but to no avail. i also played around with light schedules, still slow growth.

i then decided to stock, and some can even say over stock my tank. i bought 15 more chromis, 3 more tangs, a trigger, flame hawk, 5 pajama cardinals and a couple of blennies. of course i did not buy them all at the same time, but i did so in a manner that wouldnt throw off any parameter. the fish were added within a 2 month period. i also upgraded my skimmer to handle the load.

within the first month, the growth exploded!! in seriousness, i got more growth in 1 month, then the past 6 months. i fed more also, and again, making sure all parameters were in check. i have no excess algae, and now my frags are looking like mini colonies. with that being said, what is your thoughts on growth versus amount of fish?

most likely the corals are also benefiting from increase in feeding

Assuming you can export the nutrients you're importing efficiently (skimming, bio filtraion, H2O changes, etc.), the more nutrients (food) you add the healthier the system will be (including growth of coral).

explained it way better than me

I'm sure the extra fish poo had a hand in it, but also consider that growth on frags is slow until they reach that "sweet spot" size and then growth really takes off. It is posssible that you extra stocking coincided with this explosion of growth brought on by size of the colony.
