More higher end Anemones

Hi everyone,

I am wanting to purchase an anemone. I done a lot of research on them but I wanted to get one that’s more on the higher end. I have seen rainbows, Sherman’s, Rose Bubble tips and carpets but I just want to make sure I understand what is more on the rarer side.

Could you please help me with this.

I believe the lure of the Sherman is the hardiness of the nem. If you get a true Sherman, it is has been in captivity for something like 20+ years. They are not really rare, at least not in north Texas. I see a few go up for sale each month.

Depends on what you want. Gigantea aren’t particularly rare, but getting a healthy one is somewhat rare. A top color morph of a Magnifica is tough to come by. All the bubble tip names are not my thing. Mainly a marketing and actinic picture gimmick to me but others disagree. If you are looking to make money off of anemones though bubble tips are the way to go.

Correct correct! Not make money off of but just have a few pieces in the tank that we usually don’t see. The black widow seems really cool. Of course i don’t want to spend 100s of dollars for an anemone. Might as well just get a gold torch or something on those lines but it be cool if my storms would host the anemone as well. I am thinking a bubble up is best to go with

There are many nicely color host anemones, but nothing rival the color of a nicely color healthy carpet anemone, specifically a Haddoni Carpet. Special anemones are not easy to find, expensive and hard to keep. However, nothing worthwhile is easy. If you want striking, vivid color in a tank, and if you are up to it, a Haddoni carpet is the way to go.

That is a Blue Gigantea carpet and a Magnifica front L side of the picture.

I agree with Opus. We get a lot of them in the DFW area. Many lfs's have them. They did originate down the road in Sherman. Honestly, I don't get the lure. They are one color, they rarely develope the bubbles most other bta's do. They tend to get bigger than other bta's, that might be a plus or minus to you.

Minus for me. I rather just pay for something else with more color.
