More Macro fun

Nice, shooting thru the glass?

Looking at your EXIF data, no flash, and auto white balance, did you adjust in photoshop/lightroom afterwards?

Awesom shots. Also curious about top down or thru the glass. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
All shots hand held thru the glass on my 90 gal with WB adjustments in Photoshop. I steady the camera by holding the lens against the glass.

Pictures are amazing ... Could u do a sort of walk through in the wb adjustments I just can't nail it ...
The sticky from 2008 isn't helping me much
I have canon t5i with 100mm macro canon usm

With white balance, set your camera to the white balance K setting. Then go into the camera's menu and set the K value as high as it will go, 10,000K for most cameras (you only need to do that step once). That will help the camera compensate for some of the blue in our light's spectrum. Using auto most cameras will only use up to 8000K on their own, as cameras are not made for how extremely blue our lights are. If your lights have blue/actinic light on a separate switch, try turning some of them off and leaving more white on. It may not look the best to you, but it will help your camera capture more of what you see with all the lights on. With those pics you posted I'm guessing you either have a lot of actinic bulbs or are using LEDs. Tweaking the lights and camera settings helps a lot in post-processing as you don't need to do so much.

Yeah my results just aren't as good as yours ...
I can't figure out the k setting thing can't even change it in custom
There's like 8 settings only goes to 8000k
Your zoa pics are like what the heck - yeah maybe just needing practice
But u took sick pics first night u got macro lens

Thank you. My tank is lit by 2 250w 17K Geismann Halides and 4 t5's. The t-5's are two actinic and 2 of the pure actinics. With the halides on the tank actually looks pretty white to the human eye. This is when I do most of my shooting. The first pic is with the halides off. With the halides on the camera does a fair job of auto-WB but still requires some adjustment in post processing. Once I get the colors right I usually add a bit of contrast and blacks. This makes things pop a bit and also draws the eye to the actual subject instead of the background.
